There are SO many underrated cleaning products but these 5 are some that I believe most people don’t even think about using!
1. Microfiber Cloths
These are not nearly used enough! I was really bad about my paper towel usage before and would blow through an entire super roll in one day of cleaning. This was not only bad for my wallet but for the environment too! Then I started watching Youtuber’s and they all raved about microfiber. For the last few years I’ve slowly been transitioning to using microfiber on a daily bases and I will NEVER go back to paper towels again.
You can literally use them anywhere. I always had hesitation about cleaning a toilet with a reusable cloth…tell me I’m not alone here?! BUT, I was reading a book and read this from Charles MacPherson “pink for sink, blue for poo.” HOW FREAKING GENIUS!
Maybe it’s just me but I love that he came up with this system. Color coding and making it something as simple as that to remember makes me never worry that I’m cleaning the sink with something that sees the toilet bowl.
Definitely make the investment. I’ve recieved my clothes from a few different places but the ones I love are from Grove. I’ve also recently purchased a pack from Amazon, and these are great for the really nasty messes or for the odd job around the house.
2. E-Cloth Mop
I’m super new to this whole e-cloth concept and so far I’m LOVING it. We recently moved into a house that has far more hard floors and moping now takes me three times longer than it did before.
I’m also a new mom and trying to limit the chemicals in my house. That’s another great thing about this thing.
It continually keeps my floors clean, with only water! I’m not sure who invented this but they rock. I HIGHLY recommend you get one and I can promise you, you won’t hate moping anymore!
3. Vinegar
How many times did you hear your grandma tell you to just use vinegar on it? I think my grandma told me that about a million times. I always just laughed it off because there are so many new cleaning products out there that have to be better right?
I mean sure, there are other products that can do the job but Vinegar is super versitile and its not harmful. From microwaving it with a little lemon essential oil for the hard stains to diluting it and using it on your childrens toys. It really is the best all purpose cleaner. Not to mention you can by it by the gallon for super cheap!
I would link it above but truthfully you can get it way cheaper at Walmart or whatever story you shop at. It’s literally everywhere.
4. Baking Soda
Another grandma favorite is the ever trusty and forever useful baking soda. This is great when trying to get grease stains out of clothing, or when you’re in need of cleaning a drain pipe. I think we believe this is only great for baking but truthfully if it’s in your kitchen cabinets you should put it to good use.
These are also great odor eaters for your refrigerator!
5. Washing Soda
This is another cheap product that most people haven’t even heard of. It’s something that can be used on a multitude of surfaces and helps you clean just about anything.
Mixed with water and grab a cleaning cloth and you’re good to go. Spill on the couch? No problem! Small stain on the rug…you’ve got it! I’m telling you this stuff works!
Why is it that our grandparents knew about all of these items and they cold fix just about anything and now here we are trying 500 different products only to find that the tired and true methods seem to be the best?
Are there any underrated cleaning products that I didn’t list above that you use? If so please share because I’m always looking for new things!
