Last week I shared 5 things you should clean today and I felt like there were a few more things that most people neglect. so that’s why I’ve decided to bring you 5 more things you should clean today! Hope these help!
1. Ceiling Fans/Standing Fans
Ceiling fans and any standing fans you have around your home probably could use a good cleaning.
Ceiling fans are probably one of the thing in your home you don’t think to regularly clean and the good news is you’re not alone. Usually they’re just out of sight, out of mind and they end up neglected. Tackle them today!
As for standing fans…when was the last time you actually pulled the front or back off of your fan and cleaned those blades or removed all the dust from the case itself? Yeah…I thought so. You would be surprised at how dirty they get!
Fans are circulating air which is great. But, when covered in dust…after we’ve just spent hours cleaning our beautiful home…we’re just putting all the dust back.
2. Dryer Vent/Hose
This is something that I don’t even think about doing. But cleaning the lint trap isn’t enough anymore. You would be surprised the amount of lint that builds up in the hose!
And not just the amount itself but how quickly it happens!
This isn’t just for cleaning purposes but for the safety of you and your family. Lint causes homes to catch fire often so it’s always best to stay on the safe side!
3. Under Appliances
Okay so props to you for cleaning up that spill in the kitchen so quickly. But what about that little bit that ran under the refrigerator? Or the stove?
Yep, it’s time. I don’t do this every time I clean the kitchen but about once a month I try to pull out our appliances and sweep and mop underneath them. The amount of gross that builds up is surprising. Although it shouldn’t be.
These two appliances are where food ends up either being stored or cooked and kitchens end up being messy anyways. To avoid attracting bugs it’s best to keep things squeaky clean and that involves going the extra mile.
4. Rugs & Carpets
So I’m both a mom and a dog mom so this means that rugs and carpets get dirty. Things are either being tracked into the house, spilled or dirty from god knows what.
Rugs and carpets are great to spruce up a room and to give it that warm and inviting feeling. But they hold onto more than just a little dirt.
Try this test ***
1. Vacuum your rug or carpet like normal then empty the vacuum canister. This might seem silly but just do it.
2. Now I want you to go back to that same rug/carpet you just vacuumed and I want you to slow vacuum. I’m talking a turtle could vacuum faster than what you’re doing right now. (Sometimes it will take me 40 minutes to do a small bedroom) once you’ve vacuumed as slow as humanly possible look at the canister again…is it full? My guess is that’s a yes!
If that’s the case think about all the gross that’s still behind! This is why carpet cleaning is so vital! Get a shampooer and go to town. This isn’t something you should have to do but every few months to keep things fresh but slow vacuuming should be done regularly.
5. Shower Head
This is probably an odd cleaning request. But here’s how I think of it.
Anything with water or moisture can breed bacteria and that’s the stuff that definitely needs cleaning! Usually when cleaning the shower the shower head is the one thing you don’t think about doing.
But cleaning it can have not only the bacteria free piece of mind…but it can also improve the quality of your shower. Do you have holes in your shower head that are no longer pushing water through? That could be due to buildup from all the hard water! Buy removing that you can be showering like a Queen again in no time!
