This is a roundup of the kitchen must haves I believe EVERY serious homemaker needs.
1. Kitchen Aid Mixer
This is a no brainer. I mean if you’re serious about making your stuff from scratch I highly recommend one of these bad boys. They come with your basic attachments that allow you to whip up some seriously delicious stuff. BUT, you can always go ahead and purchase some of the other really awesome attachments that are out there. Anything to make life easier and to save time in the kitchen is WORTH IT!
From stuffing your own sausage, whipping up brownies, rolling out pasta, a kitchen aid is not only helpful but a time saver. This was my first really big kitchen purchase and it is well loved and over used.
2. Cast Iron Skillet
These are like finding gold. Of course you can purchase them new, but if you’re lucky enough to find one that’s been around and used for years…that’s where it’s at. My first one was given to me by my grandma. It’s a big beautiful 14” skillet and her and my grandpa used it for YEARS! This sucker has been on open flames, in the oven, and on top of the stove.
They are so versatile that it’s almost silly not to have them. They do need a little love and seasoning them (new or not) is a process but the end results are always worth it!
You can literally make anything in these. And you can use them ANYWHERE! I love that it’s a multi-use item and definitely a kitchen staple. I would say if you’re looking to splurge anywhere, do it here! Heck the more cast iron skillets…the better.
3. Dutch Oven
OMG, these things are beautiful! I swoon over them! I myself haven’t bit the bullet and purchased one yet, but you’d better believe I’m on the hunt for one as we speak. You can make so many things with them! And now that fall is approaching I just keep reminding myself of all the wonderful soups and comfort dish stews I could be making!
4. Crock Pot
This is a bit more common, and most people have one of these in their home. But if you don’t….run and go grab one! You don’t need a super fancy one either, they all do the same thing. Crockpots are great for many different reasons. Whether you’re having a super busy day, feeling a bit lazy, taking a dish to pass at a friends, etc. they have multiple uses and are a great way to save you time while producing a delicious home cooked meal for your family and friends.
These are especially useful for busy moms. The nice thing is you can prep meals ahead of time and store them in the freezer. That way when short on time you just grab one, dump it in the crockpot and your family has a super delicious home cooked meal with little effort from you.
5. Food Processor
Food processors are super handy and I truly believe they’re completely underrated. I use mine for dinners, lunches, and even when making desserts. They don’t have to be super pricey either and that’s okay. I totally believe starting small and making sure that you can and will use this appliance before investing in something super expensive.
You can use this to grind graham crackers for a cheesecake crust or shred your own cheese. The options are limitless.
